“And in truth We have made the Qur’an easy to remember; but is there any that remembers?” (Qur’an 54:17)
Every true Muslim and Muslimah has an ardent desire to understand the Qur’an, because it through this Book that The Almighty has instructed mankind how to conduct their affairs in every sphere of life.
The fahm-ul-Qur’an course is geared towards those who have an ardent desire to know more about the elaborate principles outlined in the Book in an easy-to-understand and comprehensive manner. It instills in the student a strong thirst for getting even more profound knowledge of the Book of Allah, along with enough knowledge to know how to go about studying it further. Fahm-ul-Qur’an is a brief course to get a preliminary grasp of the Qur’an and its meaning and its duration extends to just 8 months or so.
A very pleasant side-effect of this course is that it brings about a deep change in the character of the student while increasing in knowledge. This has profound effects on personal character and akhlaq.
Dr Farhat Hashmi introduced Fahm-ul-Qur’an in 2010 as a precursor to the Talim-ul-Qur’an course, which delves deeper into the Qur’an that includes detailed understanding of the tafseer (exegesis) of the Qur’an. Fahm-ul-Qur’an, however, is geared towards the average non-Arabic speaking Muslim who has very basic knowledge of the Qur’an.
